A belated happy lunar new year to you all

Yikes, it's been a super long time since we updated. So . . . that probably means that only two people keep checking this blog. Well, just for you guys here's the pics we took of the Lunar New Year celebration we went to at Warren Wilson College waaaaaay back in February.

I particularly like Calliope's outfit, which I had absolutely nothing to do with. Also, my parents looked super cute that day.

MallRats

Calliope LOVES jumping at the mall. She goes at least once a week. Oh yes, that dot with legs near the ceiling is her.

Best moment of the day . . . Quinn and Calliope got in a bit of a scuffle, and Calliope went off to her room in a huff. He was so concerned about her . . . I told him it was bedtime, but he dragged me to her door very agitated. So Aaron had her come out and Quinn made the sign for 'please' and put out his hand. She took his hand, and then he made kissy noises at her. Okay, so this was new. And ridiculously adorable. She did let him kiss and make up, which is a total first for them. He's so very determined to win her over, that I think this sibling thing might actually work after all. He only met us 6 weeks ago! He continues to astonish us every day. I didn't think we would be where we are in terms of attachment for at least 6 months. Crazy sweet kid.

Deceptively Wintry Randoms

The kids found the winter clothes drawer and decided to bundle up, even though it was over 50 degrees that day. Weird children. Calliope is wearing the flower crown Nella picked out for her in the first pic. And Quinn is wearing the crazy adorable footie pjs he got at his welcome lunch. Just when you thought he couldn't get *any* cuter . . . you would be oh so wrong!

The last couple of pics really need audio to go along with him, so you all could hear the heart rending wailing he is doing as he watches Daddy drive away to take Calliope to school. He generally wails as though the world were ending for the entire time it takes Aaron to pull away, and then for about 13.7 seconds afterwards. Then he toddles away from the door, and all is good. Poor Ruby finds all of this strum and drang every morning to be quite bewildering.

Calliope's point of view on Quinn Day

Found these on NaiNai's camera. Apparently she was enough of a sucker to let Calliope run off with it. -starla

Happy Quinn Day

Our wonderful church family threw Quinn a "Welcome To Your Family" party yesterday, and it was lovely. Both Nana and NaiNai attended, as well as some folks from our local Families With Children From China group, and we totally scored some amazing loot. Quinn will not have to worry about his wardrobe any longer, thank goodness, and we are set with pull-ups for a very, very, very long time. Possibly all the way until potty training (fingers crossed!).

Thanks especially to Miss Heather and Miss Leslie for pulling this together, and to everyone who came and shared good grub and laughter with us. We love you guys!

P.S. And a very special thank you to Nella, who picked out the prettiest ever flower crown for Calliope to wear. :)
